Altitude is about 420m. Nestled in the Hayakawa Valley, the entrance and lobby on the top floor offer a view of the Hayakawa River below and the magnificent Hakone mountain range that weaves its way through the four seasons.
Miyanoshita Onsen in Hakone was discovered in the Muromachi period (1336-1573) as a source of hot spring water gushing out from under the Kumano Shrine, and prospered as a therapeutic bath during the Edo period (1603-1868). Then, after the opening of the port of Yokohama in the 19th century (late Edo to Meiji periods), it flourished as a resort for foreigners and was visited by celebrities from all over the world.
